Naturally Clean, Farm Fresh Soap

About us

Washpool Farm is the Thomas family - Melissa, Warren and their children. They have a property near Ballandean on the Queensland/New South Wales border in the Granite Belt Wine Country. The business was named after the creek that runs through the property.

Melissa and Warren have become "soap artisans" - manual workers dedicated to their craft, designing products to meet the needs of their clients. Warren designs and prepares moulds, prepares and hand cuts the soap while Melissa works on new soap recipes.

It all started when the family was experiencing irritation and itchiness from commercial shampoos.

They changed to shampoo soap bars and apple cider vinegar rinse. Being a farming husband, Warren enjoyed having a bar that he could wash and shampoo with all in one. The children's hair and scalp were healthy and shiny.

Demand was growing from friends, family and the local community for handmade soaps - people started approaching us for soaps suitable for adults and children with eczema, cancer patients with itchy dry skin, low allergy bars, antibacterial soaps, soaps for 'ground in' dirt and biodegradable/bug repellent soaps for campers at nearby Sundown and Girraween national parks.

Setting up and growing Washpool Farm seemed an ideal way of contributing financially to the family without needing to work away from the property.

Where possible, they source ingredients locally - extra virgin olive oil, lavender buds, botanicals, Anthony's home brew for their beer shampoo. They have secured a local source of fresh goat's milk. Warren and Melissa are committed to sourcing the best possible ingredients, including sustainable, organic and fairly traded oils and butters.

Ballandean is a strong, supportive community characterised by award winning wineries, B & B's, cottages, restaurants, organic producers, vegetable farms and orchards.

They hope you enjoy their soaps and thank you for contributing to their dreams.
